About

Jan was born into a family of artists at the very end of the 70's in Hanover, Germany. Immersed in music from the beginning of his life, he started to play piano at the age of four, and two years later, the violin was added to his musical education.

Since his father works as a composer as well, and his mother (as most of her relatives) being a trained actress, Jan's interest in both movies and music became combined and finally led him to the wondrous world of film music.

At the age of 21, Jan majored in violin with a piano/music theory minor at the University of Music, Drama and Media Hanover, and it was this time when he finally decided to devote his time to composing, rather than continuing his career as a professional soloist. Over the years he successfully produced music for feature films and short movies, as well as for documentaries, commercials, theaters, musicals and classical ensembles.

Jan currently resides with his wife near Tokyo, Japan.
